Hunting
We are Roslin Copeland and Ginger Hurley. We love hunting with our Boykin Spaniels. My brother Greg & his wife Michelle introduced us to Boykins over 25 years ago. We all four began Texas Trace together. We haven't looked back! We are claimed by our own passel of Boykins!
We live at Texas Trace in Pine Island, Texas,

We are preferred breeders with the AKC Parent Club, BSCBAA, The Boykin Spaniel Club & Breeders Association of America. We strive to keep the Boykin Spaniel one breed and not have two different types for hunting and a separate one for conformation. We believe in breeding form to function. The Boykin Spaniels are very versatile dogs and should easily go from the hunting field, to the show ring, to agility, to therapy, to obedience and back to the field with full function of hunting and lasting in the field without missing a beat.
AKC Breeders of Merit!
We are proud “Breeders of Merit” with the AKC. Our Boykins have attained numerous titles from events including hunt test, WD/WDX events, champions & grand champions in conformation, dock diving, rally, agility, therapy, tracking, scent work and many more. We do extensive health and genetic testing (Full Boykin Spaniel Genetic Panel) on all our dogs prior to breeding. Our breeding stock all have excellent and good hips, EIC clear, normal eyes, normal patella and all are titled champions. We take great care in matching sire and dam with generations of documented health test and well-adjusted temperament for hunting and family companionship. We breed occasionally, and we only do so in an effort to advance the breed, to further the hunting instincts of the breed and with a focus on improving the health of the breed. Generally, those puppies are spoken for long in advance.
Where the Boykins Come First!
We set up Texas Trace as a kennel intently focused on improving the health of this breed, furthering it’s hunting instincts, and trying to do all the things one can do with a Boykin Spaniel – hunting, hunt test, dock diving, agility, rally, obedience, therapy and conformation. Greg & Michelle have retired from breeding, but Roslin and Ginger are keeping the legacy alive!
