Texas Trace is a licensed private hunting preserve approximately 130 acres on Clear Creek located in Pine Island, Texas, Waller County. There are three open fields with good cover, great for upland bird hunting. There is traditional southern grasslands with gorgeous oak, pecan, elm and sycamore trees scattered throughout the property, great for field training. There are also several branch creeks that run through the wooded areas and a dog-training pond, great for water work. Live birds are used regularly during training - quail/pigeon/chukar. Table training will be used for “Guided Table Fetching”. There is a Zip Line & a narrow fenced-in area to specifically work on line retrieves. There are multiple areas for different looks to work blinds, multiply complex retrieves & run various training drills. Texas Trace TRAINING PRICES

EVALUATIONS

At Texas Trace, we offer an Evaluation session. We run through some quick assessment drills to determine where your dog is in his training. All evaluations for obedience training, or gun dog training are for 30 minutes for $50. All dogs must be able to perform obedience commands before gun-dog training begins.

GROUP OBEDIENCE TRAINING

All our group classes are for once per week for 1 1/2 hours for 4 weeks with a minimum of 3 dogs per session per instructor and maximum of 6 total for a session. The Texas Trace Obedience classes are highly recommended and are our most popular. The dogs are exposed to socialization as well as performing good behavior through commands using verbal, whistle and hand signals. The sessions ideal for ages 5-month-old to 2 years old dogs. Price is $400 for 4 weeks. We will cover heel, sit, stay, come, hup, whoa, off, down, place, change of direction and introduce agility apparatus.

GROUP GUN DOG TRAINING

All our group classes are for once per week for 1 1/2 hours for 4 weeks with a minimum of 3 dogs per session per instructor and maximum of 6 total for a session. The Texas Trace Gun Dog Training package is $600 for 4 weeks. If you have not taken the Texas Trace Obedience Classes, you will have to schedule an evaluation before you are submitted to the Gun Dog Training Class. We first reinforce the obedience commands then we begin with guided table fetch work, working to properly hold, then we will work in enclosed area with groundwork. We will work with bumpers, wing- bird bumpers, frozen birds, and down-birds. We will use side-by throws, tracking throws and launchers. We will work on gun shot conditioning and will progress to open groundwork, field work and waterwork.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Texas Trace offers privates at any level, but an evaluation is required unless you have gone through one of our training programs previously. Obedience level is $125 per hour. Gun Dog Training at any level is $200 per hour and live flyers are charged $20 per flyer used during training.

GROUP AND PRIVATE SESSIONS

All Texas Trace Packages come with a class booklet of a written syllabus, outline, our philosophy, command sheet, positive reinforcement techniques, gentle pressure/correction techniques and written drills.
